Distinctive Unit Insignia
A silver color metal and enamel device 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height overall consisting of a maroon cross on which is a silver field tent with black markings.
Maroon and white are the colors of the Army Medical Department. The cross, a symbol of mercy and the field tent are indicative of the mission of the organization.
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 19 October 1942. It was amended to delete the motto and revise the description and symbolism on 28 August 1970.
